Title: Associate FLSA: Exempt Reports To: Shareholder JOB SUMMARY: Mid-sized professional and general liability defense firm with a state-wide presence has an open associate position in the Cleveland office. The successful candidate will have three to five years of meaningful legal experience and will be responsible for legal research, brief writing, working through complex discovery, taking depositions, and assisting lead counsel in preparing for and participating in court hearings and trials. Salary commensurate with experience. QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Litigation Associate with three to five years of practical experience. 2. Previous insurance defense experience a plus. 3. Low maintenance/can do attitude. 4. Excellent interpersonal communication and interrogative skills. 5. Knowledge of professional ethics and conduct. 6. Ability to gather, analyze, and interpret data collected from clients. 7. Excellent organizational and case management skills. 8. Familiarity with legal software search databases. 9. Computer proficiency. Requirements ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Legal research and analysis. 2. Client representation in a variety of contexts. 3. Prepare pleadings, motions, discovery, reports, summaries, memoranda, etc. 4. Write, review and edit reports, opinions, correspondence, articles and other documents. EDUCATION AND LICENSE: 1. Bachelor's Degree in any discipline 2. Juris Doctor 3. Valid Ohio Bar License Salary Description $95,000 / year
