Chartwell Law is looking for an experienced self-starting Associate to join our litigation group in our Atlanta, GA office. Successful applicants will have exceptional writing, research, and litigation skills. This position is full-time. The Associate will work directly with and learn from a highly experienced and fun group of attorneys and staff members. We maintain a professional yet laid back work environment. A candidate must be a team player willing to assist other team members when necessary. Primary duties include: File review Provide advice and legal analysis counsel on a wide range of claims employment matters, including Title VII, ADA, ADEA, FMLA, FLSA, and causes of action Extensive legal research related state laws Draft and drafting of substantial briefs, memos, pleadings, respond to discovery, including managing e-discovery processes Prepare and appellate briefs Annual billable amount of 1950 hours required Regularly representing clients in court, at arbitrations argue dispositive motions and pleadings Draft, review, and revise employee handbooks, policies, employment contracts, and separation agreements Respond to EEOC and state agency charges and participate in administrative proceedings Assist with federal and state agency investigations Conduct and participate in depositions Drafting and responding to discovery requests Expert witness retention and collaboration Trial preparation and attendance Some travel may be required Requirements Minimum of 2 years' of civil litigation experience with an emphasis in employment law Familiar with handling civil cases from beginning to end, Experience taking and defending depositions to include 30(b)(6) and experts, drafting and arguing substantive motions, attending hearings and trials Experience participating in negotiations and mediations Attend witness interviews conducted by administrative agencies Collaborate closely with partners, clients, and stakeholders to deliver strategic and practical legal advice Manage deadlines and assignments with a high level of ownership and independence Requirements: J.D. degree from an ABA-approved ABA-accredited law school Admitted Active license to practice law in the state of GA, other states Georgia (required); additional bar admissions a plus but not required Superior analytical Minimum of 2 years of experience in labor and problem-solving skills Solid research abilities employment law, preferably in a law firm setting Demonstrated experience handling employment litigation from start to finish Strong knowledge of federal and written state employment laws and regulations Excellent legal research, writing, and oral communication advocacy skills Strong Experience with administrative proceedings, depositions, and mediations Ability to work ethic, ability to self-manage independently and work collaboratively in a team environment Must respond promptly to e-mail Professional demeanor with strong client-relations and phone inquiries Excellent client communication skills Must be responsive and telephone manner Benefits Include: organized, with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks Top 10 Reasons to Work at Chartwell Law Collaborative & Innovative Work Environment?A culture built on teamwork and collaboration drives success for our clients and our people.
