Job Description


The Assistant Store Manager at the Trop and Jones location of Las Vegas Petroleum plays a vital role in supporting the Store Manager in delivering exceptional operational performance and customer service in a fast-paced convenience store environment. This position entails assisting in directing daily operations, managing staff, overseeing inventory, and ensuring compliance with company policies and safety regulations. The Assistant Store Manager will help create a positive and engaging shopping experience, driving sales and enhancing customer loyalty.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Daily Operations Management:
    • Assist in the management of the daily store operations, ensuring a seamless functioning store.
    • Participate in opening and closing procedures, including cash handling and bank deposits.
    • Maintain high standards of store presentation, cleanliness, and organization.
    • Support inventory management processes, including stock replenishment and merchandising.
  2. Customer Engagement:
    • Ensure customers receive prompt and friendly service, addressing their needs and concerns.
    • Promote customer loyalty by fostering a welcoming and helpful environment.
    • Handle customer inquiries and complaints effectively and professionally.
    • Encourage team members to deliver outstanding customer service experiences.
  3. Team Leadership:
    • Support recruitment, training, and development of store staff to enhance performance.
    • Assist in creating employee schedules that meet operational requirements.
    • Provide daily coaching, feedback, and support to team members.
    • Promote a positive team culture that encourages collaboration and motivation.
  4. Inventory Control:
    • Help manage inventory levels, track sales patterns, and assist with order placements.
    • Conduct regular inventory audits and ensure timely stock rotations.
    • Oversee product displays and ensure compliance with merchandising guidelines.
    • Work to minimize shrinkage by identifying discrepancies and implementing loss prevention strategies.
  5. Sales and Financial Performance:
    • Assist the Store Manager in achieving sales and profitability targets.
    • Monitor daily sales performance and help identify opportunities for improvement.
    • Assist with the management of operational costs, including labor and inventory expenses.
  6. Health and Safety Standards:
    • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
    • Assist in training staff on health and safety protocols and emergency procedures.
    • Maintain a safe work environment for employees and customers.
  7. Reporting and Administrative Duties:
    • Assist in preparing required reports on store performance and team metrics.
    • Resolve operational issues and provide solutions to enhance store efficiency.
    • Support audit processes and maintain accurate documentation as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required; a degree in business or retail management is preferred.
  • At least 2 years of experience in retail or convenience store management is desirable.
  • Strong leadership and team-building skills to inspire and lead a diverse team.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Capacity to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks in a busy environment.
  • Knowledge of inventory management and retail operations best practices.
  • Familiarity with financial principles related to sales and expenses.
  • Proficient with point-of-sale systems, cash handling procedures, and MS Office tools.
  • Availability to work varied hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to stand, walk, and bend for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 30-50 pounds.
  • Willingness to perform tasks requiring physical effort, such as stocking and cleaning.
