About the First Year Associate Experience
First Year Associates at Mintz are hired into one of the firm?s offices and immersed into a practice area.The firm?s Orientation & Training, ?Base Camp? takes place in our Boston office and brings the full class together for a week of practical training and networking. First Year Associates are given formal mentors that can serve as a resource during their transition to the firm. It's not long before First Year Associates know our lawyers, understand what we do, and are ready to hit the ground running after law school.
Collaboration with team members is an important component of this role. This role requires 60% in-office presence; remote work is permissible 40% of the time.
About our Health Law Practice
Our Health Law Practice is uniquely positioned to guide clients through structural and operational challenges. Our clients include providers (non-profit, publicly traded and private equity backed), payors, manufacturers, distributors, and suppliers. The breadth and depth of our knowledge and experience inform our advice in related litigation and transactional matters. We also draw upon the capabilities of a wide range of related practices within the firm as the need arises. This cross-disciplinary approach allows our attorneys to solve the many problems our clients face while expanding their business opportunities.
The Health Law practice is seeking a first year Associate to join in our Washington D.C. or New York office, with a preference for the Associate to be located in Washington, D.C. Responsibilities will include researching and analyzing Medicare and Medicaid requirements for plans, providers, and vendors, as well as state and federal fraud and abuse laws, drafting and reviewing contracts, and performing health regulatory due diligence. Some exposure to fraud and abuse laws (Anti-Kickback Statute, Stark Law, False Claims Act) and HHS OIG or CMS experience is preferred but not required. We anticipate a start date in September of 2026.
Qualifications and Desired Skills
- Must be graduating with a J.D. or LL.M. from an ABA accredited law school.
- Must be eligible for admission to the Bar for the jurisdiction in which the candidate is applying.
- Must possess excellent written/verbal communication skills
- Must possess a high level of professionalism and client readiness
- Must be able to balance and prioritize multiple competing priorities and responsibilities, be highly organized and exercise extreme attention to detail.
- Must be able to collaborate and work effectively in team settings.
