Job Description

We are looking for a dedicated vocational rehabilitation counselor to assist clients in finding suitable employment opportunities. In this role, you will assess their readiness for work, develop rehabilitation plans, and help them achieve their employment goals.

To be successful in this position, you should have a deep understanding of vocational challenges and have previous experience in vocational rehabilitation. We are looking for someone who can accurately identify clients' strengths and help them enter the workforce successfully.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Evaluate clients' mental and physical abilities, interests, experience, and education.
  • Create individualized rehabilitation plans based on each client's strengths.
  • Assist clients in adapting to vocational challenges, including those acquired later in life.
  • Collaborate with physicians, physical therapists, and psychologists to create Individual Plans for Employment (IPEs).
  • Hold sessions with family members and caregivers to better understand and support clients' employment goals.
  • Consult with employers and other stakeholders to help clients access employment opportunities.
  • Find resources, such as computer software or community support, to aid clients in their vocational rehabilitation.
  • Identify vocational training opportunities and assist clients with job applications.
  • Monitor, document, and report clients' progress and adjust rehabilitation plans accordingly.
  • Stay up-to-date with advancements in vocational rehabilitation therapy.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Master's degree in vocational or rehabilitation counseling from a CACREP-accredited program.
  • State-prescribed licensing and registration as a rehabilitation counselor.
  • Extensive experience working with individuals with physical or psychological disabilities and underlying health conditions.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical record software, such as CounSol and Cliniko.
  • Experience collaborating on treatment plans with other healthcare professionals and stakeholders.
  • Strong ability to conduct psychological and vocational assessments and interpret diagnostic data.
  • Knowledge of current advancements in vocational rehabilitation and healthcare regulations and labor laws.
  • Excellent record-keeping and communication skills.
  • Empathetic and caring nature with exceptional interpersonal skills.
