A sous chef helps plan and manage food preparation in restaurant kitchens. They work closely with the head chef and are responsible for tasks such as creating menus, training new staff, and keeping track of inventory.

Job Description

We are looking for a sous chef to join our talented kitchen team. As the second in command, you will follow and enforce our executive chef's guidelines and help create delicious seasonal menus and meals.

In this role, you will also recruit new employees, handle customer issues, and come up with new menu options. We are looking for someone with great communication skills and extensive knowledge of cooking methods, ingredients, and equipment.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Create new menu options based on seasonal changes and customer demand.
  • Help with planning and preparing meal designs.
  • Make sure kitchen tasks are completed on time.
  • Personally address and resolve customer concerns.
  • Keep track of inventory and order supplies when needed.
  • Assist junior kitchen staff with tasks such as cooking, food preparation, and plating dishes.
  • Train new kitchen employees to meet our standards.
  • Create schedules for kitchen staff and evaluate their performance.
  • Follow sanitation and safety regulations.
  • Lead the kitchen team in the executive chef's absence.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in culinary science or a related field.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Extensive knowledge of cooking methods, kitchen equipment, and best practices.
  • Familiarity with MS Office and restaurant software.
  • Strong teamwork and leadership skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
