What does a Shift Manager do?
A shift manager, also known as a shift leader, is responsible for managing staff and assigning duties at a food outlet during a specific shift.
Job Description
We are seeking a shift manager with strong leadership skills to fill in for the manager during shifts. The shift manager oversees staff and ensures smooth restaurant operations by monitoring inventory levels.
To be successful in this role, the shift manager must be able to handle multiple tasks at once. They should also possess excellent interpersonal skills and have previous experience working in a restaurant environment.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Assign tasks to staff members
- Supervise staff throughout the shift
- Monitor inventory levels
- Order more inventory as needed
- Ensure adequate staffing for the shift
- Balance the cash register at the end of the shift
- Manage bookings
- Resolve conflicts between staff members
- Receive feedback from customers and address any complaints
Requirements and Qualifications
- A degree in business management, restaurant management, or a related field
- Previous experience working in a restaurant, preferably in a managerial position
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Natural leadership abilities
- Knowledge of bookkeeping software
- Ability to multitask
- Ability to remain calm in stressful situations
