We are seeking an experienced protective services worker to join our social services department. In this role, you will determine the validity of abuse claims, arrange protective care and services, and compile case documents.
To be successful as a protective services worker, you should have a strong understanding of social services laws and excellent communication and interpersonal skills. It is also important to have empathy, intuition, and knowledge of social work best practices.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Investigate and verify claims of neglect or abuse by interviewing involved parties and conducting home visits.
- Collect evidence, such as medical reports and court filings, to determine the validity of claims.
- Work with law enforcement to coordinate immediate protective services if needed.
- Arrange placement for affected individuals on a temporary or permanent basis.
- Prepare and compile case documents for court proceedings or follow-up visits.
- Communicate with service providers and law enforcement about ongoing cases.
- Monitor the wellbeing of affected individuals and arrange additional services, such as counseling.
- Review case documents, evidence, and court proceedings to determine the possibility of returning individuals to their home.
- Close resolved cases and maintain detailed records of all case files and evidence.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, or a related field.
- Clinical social work state license.
- At least 3 years of experience as a protective services worker.
- Strong knowledge of social services-related laws, regulations, and policies.
- Effective communication skills and a kind, empathetic demeanor.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
