What does a Paraprofessional do?

Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Work with teachers to plan lessons and communicate with parents and school officials.
- Help teach lessons, lead small groups or one-on-one instruction, and review classwork.
- Keep the classroom and teaching materials organized, and make sure students are paying attention.
- Watch over students in and out of the classroom.
- Take care of students' physical, personal, academic, and emotional needs.
- Assist with extracurricular activities and school events.
- Do tasks like taking attendance, typing, filing, copying, and grading.
- Make sure educational materials and supplies are well-maintained.
- Track students' progress and prepare reports for parents.
- Help teachers talk to parents about their child's progress and needs.
Requirements and Qualifications
- An associate's degree in paraprofessional studies.
- A bachelor's degree in child development or a related field may be helpful.
- Current certifications in first aid and CPR.
- Experience working with children, especially those with special needs.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Familiarity with educational software.
