What does a Mediator do?
A mediator helps people who are having trouble settling their disagreements on their own. Instead of telling them what to do, a mediator helps them think through the problem and come up with a fair solution.
Job Description
We are looking for a neutral mediator to help our clients resolve their conflicts. The mediator will look into what caused the problem, talk to both sides, and guide them towards finding a solution that they both agree on. The mediator will also make sure that everyone stays respectful and engaged throughout the process.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Figure out what caused the conflict
- Talk to both sides and explain your role as a mediator
- Give each person a chance to explain their side of the story
- Share your understanding of the situation and ask for corrections if needed
- Help both sides see the other's point of view
- Facilitate open and honest discussions to find a fair solution
- Make sure everyone agrees on the next steps
- Be available for more discussions if needed
Requirements and Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completed mediation training program
- Proven experience in resolving conflicts peacefully
- Good at picking up on nonverbal cues
- Able to address and correct misunderstandings
- Excellent communication skills
- Neutral, adaptable, and decisive
- Able to remain impartial and not take sides
