Job Description
We are currently seeking an MDS Coordinator to assess and monitor the health and wellbeing of our residents in accordance with the Resident Assessment Instrument (RAI) and other relevant legislation. In this role, you will conduct care area assessments, develop care plans, and ensure that residents' health and wellbeing are properly monitored and documented.
In order to be successful as an MDS Coordinator, you should have previous experience in nursing, strong attention to detail, and a proficiency in data collection and analysis. The ideal candidate will also possess excellent interpersonal skills, a thorough understanding of patient care protocols, and expert knowledge of MDS activities.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Conducting and managing assessments of residents in our facility.
- Communicating with residents and performing regular checks to ensure their wellbeing.
- Developing care plans and schedules for residents.
- Gathering data on current and potential residents in the facility.
- Using RAI, MDS 3.0, QM, CBQM, and MBP manuals to inform assessments and activities.
- Investigating and following up on any complaints or incidents reported by residents.
- Collaborating with other key stakeholders to ensure proper care implementation.
- Reporting findings and making recommendations to management.
- Ensuring compliance with legal regulations by following MDS procedures.
- Assisting the director and administrator of the facility as needed.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in nursing.
- Successful completion of the NCLEX-RN examination and any necessary state-specific certifications.
- Valid state certification as an MDS coordinator through a recognized organization, such as the American Association of Post-Acute Care Nursing (AAPACN).
- Strong understanding of data collection, reporting, and analysis.
- Proficiency in MDS 3.0 assessments and procedures.
- Thorough knowledge of medical-legal frameworks, such as the Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (OBRA) of 1987.
- Ability to create comprehensive care plans for residents.
