A Loss Prevention Officer is someone who works in a store to prevent theft and damage to the products. They often dress in regular clothes to blend in.

Job Description

We are looking for a vigilant Loss Prevention Officer to watch over our store's inventory. Your main responsibilities will include monitoring for suspicious activity, taking action when needed, and working with law enforcement when necessary.

To be successful in this role, you should be able to blend in with customers and have a willingness to put yourself in potentially dangerous situations in order to keep the public safe.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Walk around the store and look for any suspicious behavior from customers or staff.
  • Watch security footage to spot any questionable activity.
  • Approach and question individuals who seem to be acting suspiciously.
  • Search individuals who may be carrying stolen items.
  • Detain thieves and wait for law enforcement to arrive.
  • Provide eyewitness accounts to law enforcement and in court.
  • Retrieve stolen items and return them to the store.
  • Keep a record of attempted and successful thefts.
  • Identify and report any weaknesses in our security systems.
  • Come up with ideas to prevent theft and damage in and around the store.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience as a Loss Prevention Officer, mall security guard, or similar role.
  • Undercover experience is preferred.
  • Training in self-defense is beneficial.
  • Ability to carry non-lethal weapons is recommended.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Able to work discreetly if needed.
  • Perceptive, with good judgment.
  • Fast and precise in performing duties.
  • Physically fit.
