We are hiring a longshoreman to join our dockyard team. Your job will be to help load and unload cargo safely and efficiently. You will need to check containers for damage and follow instructions to make sure everything is done correctly. We want someone who knows how to handle different types of cargo and can do their job well.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Attend safety meetings and training
  • Keep work areas clean and safe
  • Stay aware of surroundings and possible dangers
  • Follow loading plans and instructions
  • Prepare cargo for lifting
  • Use equipment like chainsaws, cranes, forklifts, and tractors to move cargo
  • Load and unload cargo from ships
  • Make sure cargo is secure on the ship
  • Follow safety procedures and policies
  • Tell your supervisor if you see any damaged or unsafe cargo or if anyone gets hurt

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Have worked in a dock or warehouse before
  • Know how to use tractors, forklifts, and cranes
  • Pass a physical exam
  • Be able to speak, write, and read basic English
  • Work well with little supervision and follow instructions
  • Be physically strong and able to move quickly
  • Be available to work different shifts, including weekends and holidays
  • Not be afraid of heights, small spaces, loud noises, bad weather, or moving machinery
