What does a Janitor do?
A janitor is a person who keeps schools, offices, libraries, and hospitals clean and in good condition. They may work outside of regular business hours, such as early in the morning or late at night, to make sure the building is properly cleaned.
Job Description
We are looking for a janitor to join our team and work in multiple buildings. Your main responsibilities will be to perform maintenance and cleaning tasks to keep the buildings in perfect condition. To do well in this job, you should have some knowledge of basic building repairs and some experience with cleaning.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Clean and maintain the building to keep it in good condition
- Vacuum, sweep, and mop floors
- Stock and clean restrooms
- Lock doors after hours
- Clean up spills using appropriate equipment
- Perform minor repairs
- Report major repairs to supervisors or managers
- Collect and dispose of trash
- Complete tasks on time with minimal supervision
- Keep cleaning supplies stocked
- Work with a contract cleaning service when needed
Requirements and Qualifications
- Good time management skills
- Able to work without direct supervision
- Ability to lift at least 25 pounds
- Basic knowledge of maintenance, building repairs, and cleaning
- Basic math skills
- Able to safely use cleaning supplies
- High school diploma
- Ability to use basic cleaning equipment
