- Assessing children's individual needs
- Collaborating with various parties to design individualized programs
- Working with teachers and others to share subject matter with children
- Supervising students in classrooms and other settings
- Ensuring children are safe and occupied
- Using effective classroom management techniques
- Keeping records of lesson plans and children's performance
- Collaborating with parents to refer children to other professionals and services

Requirements and Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in special education
- Valid substitute teaching permit
