We are looking for someone who pays attention to detail to join our team as a hospital scribe. The hospital scribe works with physicians, helps with clerical and IT tasks, manages electronic health records, and supports the physician in a clinical setting.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Accompanying the physician into patient rooms and documenting medical procedures and visits as they happen.
  • Preparing referral letters for the physician by either dictation or summarizing the patient's medical records.
  • Assisting with referrals, reports, phone calls, and other clerical tasks.
  • Making sure medical documentation is accurate, up-to-date, and signed by the attending physician.
  • Adding all clinical data, lab reports, and physician interpretations to the medical records and making sure they are correct.
  • Helping develop and maintain patient tracking systems.
  • Attending training and conferences on various medical topics.
  • Editing the physician's medical documents for errors.
  • Following all ethical, legal, and confidentiality rules when preparing medical documents.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Bachelor's degree in a medical field (optional).
  • Experience as a hospital scribe (optional).
  • Knowledge of HIPAA confidentiality standards.
  • Understanding of medical terminology and anatomy.
  • Experience with medical record software and hardware.
