We are looking for a hard-working and efficient commis chef to help the chef de partie prepare food and assist with other kitchen tasks. You will also need to make sure all food is stored properly to avoid spoilage.
To be a great commis chef, you should be organized and able to finish tasks on time. It's also important to follow instructions and follow food safety rules.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Measure food carefully for the chef de partie.
- Prepare food, like cutting vegetables and seasoning meat.
- Make simple salads and sauces, following the chef de partie's instructions.
- Receive deliveries and check that everything is there and in good condition.
- Keep track of what food and supplies are running low and let the supervisor know.
- Get rid of any expired or spoiled food in the kitchen.
- Keep your work area clean and sanitized.
- Plate and present food as directed by the chef de partie.
Requirements and Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience working in a kitchen is helpful.
- A food handler's license.
- Basic knowledge of food safety rules.
- Able to stand for long periods of time.
- Able to work quickly and under pressure.
