We are looking for a dedicated and dependable choreographer to join our team. Your responsibilities would include working closely with the director, attending auditions and rehearsals on time, collaborating with music, design, and costume departments, and providing training and support to the dancers. You should be good at meeting deadlines and paying attention to detail.

To be successful in this role, you should be able to create dance routines that look good to the audience and guide the dancers as they practice. Great choreographers are willing to work long hours and have patience with the dancers.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Understand the project's requirements and limitations and work with the Director, lighting, music, and costume departments to make sure the dance routines are of high quality.
  • Create dance steps that fit the mood, music, and theme of the performance and are appropriate for the audience.
  • Support, guide, and explain the steps and formations to the dancers.
  • Make sure the rehearsal venue is available and that the dancers have been informed in advance.
  • Do research by watching dance shows, attending performances, and reading about different routines.
  • Attend shows and events to get new ideas and network with others.
  • Inform the Director and other team members about any potential issues and come up with backup plans.
  • Schedule one-on-one sessions and provide extra support to dancers if needed.
  • Be punctual for all rehearsals, performances, and meetings.
  • Handle administrative tasks and paperwork.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • High school diploma.
  • A degree in fine arts or a related field may be helpful.
  • Extensive dancing experience and skill.
  • A passion for dance and working with other creative people.
  • Strong interpretive and creative thinking abilities.
  • Excellent attention to detail, time management skills, and work ethic.
