Job Description

We are looking for a dedicated Chief Development Officer to join our team and help guide our organization's future. This position will report to the Chief Executive Officer and work closely with the senior management team, governing board, and staff to define our organization's vision and direction. Your responsibilities will include planning and implementing strategies to secure donors and donations, overseeing the development program, monitoring progress, and addressing any challenges that may arise.

The ideal candidate will have experience in fundraising and organizational development, as well as strong management skills from working in a nonprofit or similar environment. They should be self-motivated, a problem-solver, and have a passion for philanthropy.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the CEO, staff, and governing board to develop short and long-term strategic plans.
  • Identify and address any development issues that may impact the organization's success.
  • Promote a culture of giving and ensure that all fundraising efforts align with the organization's values, vision, and mission.
  • Work with the CEO and senior management to plan fundraising initiatives and programs.
  • Efficiently manage the development function and oversee all fundraising activities in coordination with staff.
  • Establish a diverse mix of donor sources and fundraising programs to attract and retain donors and volunteers.
  • Set performance measures, monitor progress, and evaluate the effectiveness of the development program.
  • Ensure compliance with all laws and regulations, as well as the code of ethics for fundraising professionals.
  • Recruit, train, and motivate fundraising volunteers.
  • Stay updated on the latest developments in philanthropy and fundraising.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration or a related field.
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Additional certification may be required.
  • At least 5 years of experience managing projects and teams.
  • Demonstrated success in fundraising.
  • Strong interpersonal, decision-making, and leadership skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Analytical thinking and ability to analyze data.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Occasional travel may be required.
