A biology teacher, also known as a science teacher, works in middle schools or high schools to help students learn about living organisms. They create engaging lessons in different areas of biology, such as genetics and zoology, and also handle administrative tasks and supervise experiments.

We are looking for a reliable and passionate biology teacher to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for creating lesson plans, tests, and assignments, supervising students during investigations and experiments, and chaperoning field trips. It is important that you are able to teach students with different backgrounds, abilities, and interests.
To be successful as a biology teacher, you should be culturally sensitive, well-organized, and have a strong curiosity. The ideal candidate is not afraid to discuss bodily functions with teenagers.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Create engaging biology lessons for students with varying backgrounds and interests.
- Monitor student performance and adjust teaching strategies to improve learning.
- Establish rules for the classroom, laboratory, and field trips and ensure students understand and follow them.
- Create exams, assessments, and experiments according to curriculum requirements and state standards.
- Communicate any student issues to parents, counselors, and other staff members.
- Attend school events, club meetings, and staff meetings as required.
- Represent the school at conferences, workshops, and other networking events.
- Offer suggestions to improve the Biology Department and school operations.
- Build rapport with students to create a safe and comfortable learning environment.
- Encourage students to participate in science fairs, competitions, and expos and prepare them for these events.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in biology or a related field.
- Master's degree preferred.
- Degree in secondary education with a focus on biology is also acceptable.
- Completed teaching apprenticeship recommended.
- Valid teaching license or certification.
- Prior teaching experience is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Patience, resilience, and cultural sensitivity.
